Vision Into Reality The Agile Optical Network

William Uliasz is director, optical transport network architecture, at Verizon Technology Organization (VTO) and spoke at the recent New England Fiberoptic Council (NEFC) "FiberFest" symposium held this year in Massachusetts. Uliasz talked about key technologies and the vision (near reality) that will transform the way information, data and video, along with telephone services, is delivered to homes and business. Also discussed were challenges involved in the deployment of a metro/core/long haul optical transport network.
Dr. Paul Polishuk, president, and chairman of the board of the IGI Group of companies, which includes IGI Consulting Inc., Information Gatekeepers Inc., IGICom and 12 overseas offices, explored and presented the potential market opportunities inherent with an all-optical network. Polishuk also spoke on results of two recent studies published by Information Gatekeepers Inc. Polishuk is a world renowned expert on fiber optics technology and markets.

The event included a trade show with some 50 exhibitors, including Connecticut representatives PVI Systems, Fluid Coating, Three Rivers Community College, OFS Specialty Optics, and Microcare.
FiberFest, an annual trade show, is presented by the New England Fiberoptic Council (NEFC).
