Innovative Design Nabs Award

design-winnerThe Sunrise Medical Helium wheelchair, with industrial design by Gary van Deursen of Van Deursen LLC of Essex, Connecticut, was recently awarded the 2010 Red Dot award for product design.

The Helium was selected from among 4,252 products entered from more than 50 nations.

“The design merges elements from the world of cycling and automotive to create a high-performance, fully adjustable wheelchair, that features superior handling, ergonomics and aesthetics,” said Gary van Deursen.

The award-winning wheelchair is currently sold in Europe as the Helium and in the U.S. as the Q7 from Sunrise.
